Convection and intermittency noise in water temperature near a deep Mediterranean seafloor

Turbulent and internal wave motions are important for the exchange of momentum, heat suspended matter in deep-sea which is generally stably stratified density. Turbulence-generation models involve shear vertical current differences that deforms waters, convection drive by (unstable) buoyancy. Shear-generation found more general well-stratified ocean-interior, while known to occur near sea-surface, e.g. via nighttime cooling. Far below surface, Western-Mediterranean Sea very weakly offers opportunity observationally study convection. An opportunistic small set high-resolution temperature sensors demonstrates not only classic internal-wave-induced turbulence, but also attributed geothermal heating spectral properties relate various chaos-theory such as 1/sigma pink noise (sigma denoting frequency), mainly lying at (0.01 m above) seafloor, 1/sigma^2 Brownian noise, on a moored line about 100 above seafloor. Near-inertial variations observed down seafloor thereby disturbing local convective turbulence regime shear-dominated one temporarily.
